AC3 follows the original Boston Massacre rather poorly. During the campaign your character must follow and assassinate a gunmen who is supposed to shoot at the crowd of people who gathered at the State House. Once you kill him the whole "massacre" starts. Across the street another gunmen shoots into the air and the crowd riots, then you see British soldiers shoot at the mob. Having this in the cat and mouse part in the game takes away the importance of the Boston Massacre. The game creators most likely added this extra game-play to make the game itself longer.
